On a traffic island in the Gorbals district, near the start of Caledonia Road, where Cathcart Road and Laurieston Road diverge. Standing tall like a proud survivor of the ages, Thomson’s church rests on an odd traffic island that marks the former junction between Caledonia Road and Cathcart Road.
The church, Alexander Thomson’s first, was erected together with two adjoing tenements in Cathcart Road and Hospital Street as an architectural grouping, with coursing of stonework and window detailing for example, being carried across all three buildings.

Caledonia Road Church. A look inside. I took the opportunity of visiting when the Church was open for an art exhibition. The art wasn’t to my taste but they were allowing access to the building itself, so I managed to get some shots inside and looking up inside the building.
Caledonia Road Free Church. This church is located on a traffic island at the meeting point of Cathcart Road, Caledonia Road and Laurieston Road. It consists of a large outdoor area which if open to use for proposals and protected by entrance gates at the front.
